How to keep financial fitness while still loving to shop?

How many people love shopping? Count me in. Girls cannot have enough shoes, for me I cannot have enough skincare products. I like shopping and in the meanwhile keeping a financial fitness as bad shopping habits can cost me a fortune. Bought something that was never used once, forgot about something that was ordered online but never received, got upset about knowing someone got the same product at a much lower price and so on so forth. With all those in mind, we designed a Shopping Planner that help encourage people to spend money wisely and enjoy products that really help improve the quality of life.

Shopping wishlist

Let’s start with a shopping wishlist. Once you know what you’d like to buy, you should also think about when to buy? Maybe it’s not a good time now then save the product for later when there’s a promotion. Rakuten (formerly known as Ebates) is my favorite shopping rewards app that I’ve been using for a long time. It’s easy to track hot deals for your favorite brands, join for free and earn cash back for your purchase through the app. I just received my new blender today and getting a good deal for something on my shopping list makes my day.

Key contacts, passwords and gift card trackers

Manage key contacts from your favorite stores i.e. sales people who can usually offer you best discounts, passwords to your frequent online shopping sites, and gift card tracker. Have everything readily available for your shopping.

Shopping tracker

Track your products from orders, product delivery to refunds in your shopping tracker so that everything is well organized. If you need to return some items make sure you check their returns policies and don’t miss the day – it may not always be 30 days.

Product reviews

Write product reviews and give your own star rating to products based on your experience. It’s beneficial to check reviews from other users but at the end of the day your own experience, likes and dislikes should be the only key things that matter. Check out your own product reviews and ratings to help you decide your next purchase. Buy things that are just for you.

Budget and expense

Finally, money! Start tracking your $ spend and you’ll be surprised to see where you spend most of your money. Manage your budget and think about how to use money wisely! I know some people hate finance or don’t know how to get started, these books may help give you some ideas:

  • Personal Finance for Dummies
  • The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness
  • The Psychology of Money

I like shopping but what to buy, when to buy and how to buy matters a lot. Make your plan and enjoy shopping. Share with us what good products you got recently.
